'Tis the season for the winter blahs here in Cincinnati, especially with the winter we're having so far! All of the snow, ice, clouds, and subzero temperatures are making it a real challenge to navigate life right now.
If you've been thinking about getting away for a while and maybe enjoying a margarita on the beach, here are a few ideas to inspire you. And if you're staying put right now, perhaps simply reading about warmer climates will make winter a little more bearable.
Phoenix, AZ: Spend some time exploring the sunny desert, hiking or biking or scaling one of the nearby mountains. Visit the Desert Botanical Garden, where the succulents and desert cacti are showcased with art exhibitions. You can also explore the sandstone formations of Papago Park or hit the trails at South Mountain Park.
Florida Everglades: Florida has the warmest temperatures on the US mainland during the winter. You won't have to worry about monsoon season in the winter, and this is also the time of year to see a wider variety of wildlife. Be sure to check out Flamingo, a great place for spotting manatees.
Palm Springs, CA: The average high temperature during a Palm Springs winter is typically around 70°F. Check out Joshua Tree National Park and Salton Sea (you don't want to miss the International Banana Museum)!
New Orleans, LA: The mild days of winter are great for exploring the backstreets on a bike tour or simply enjoying the city on foot. Check out the world-famous Cafe du Monde, or enjoy some wonderful local cuisine. Or simply hang out at a cafe, pause to listen to a street band, and enjoy the local scene.
Puerto Rico: If the beach is on your mind, look into a trip to Puerto Rico. PR has its fair share of beautiful beaches, as well as an adventure park, El Yunque National Forest, and Bahita Bioluminiscente, which is exactly what it sounds like! Don't forget about historical sites, such as Casa Bacardi, Catedral Basilica, and Museo Castillo Seralles. It's sure to be a memorable trip.
